Yep, I met him again.
I met him once before at a book signing that was kind of annoying, you can read about it here.
This time he was just walking down the street, right by where I work, so I managed to get a good photo this time, and so did my friend John.
Not too much else to tell, we didn't want to hold him up and he was on his way to the camera store, so we pointed him in the right direction and off he went.
Maybe it's just me but I always thought these two had very similar intros.
Once again, they both came out in the same year, 1981. Why does that seem to happen so often?
Anyway, here's Iron Maiden with "Prodigal Son" from "Killers"
And Ozzy Osbourne with "You Can't Kill Rock & Roll" from "Diary of A Madman"
Finding Metallica records used to be exciting and fun.
Now it totally sucks!
Well, I dunno, I'm just annoyed because it took me a long time to find all those early albums, and now when you go into a record store they have at least 10 copies of each!
Of course, if I didn't have them, I'd think this was great.
Isn't it weird how that works?
San Francisco is the best city ever.
Well, I guess I haven't been to every city so I can't say that with absolute certainty, but it sure is awesome, and here's why:
1. People know how to hill park there. It's probably the first thing you learn.
2. Murray's Pomade, Lemon heads candy and Cherry Coke are abundant, unlike in stupid Canada.
3. Cable cars are really fun to ride!
4. Bus Drivers have no time for you at all. If you're an idiot, you'll get yelled at.
5. Some of the hills are at like a 90 degree angle. Now that's good for the ol' glutes!
6. Cliff Burton grew up there.
7. They have an Amoeba records.
8. They have the biggest Chinatown in North America. It's big and full of awesome stuff.
9. Sea Lions!
10.They get actual waves at the beach.
11.There's way more reasons, but I'm too tired to think anymore!
12. Go there. Go there now.
I just copied this straight from imdb.com:
Jeffrey Katzenberg, who is a major advocate of theatrical 3-D films, has disclosed that George Lucas is investing in a technology that could turn all of his Star Wars movies into 3-D features that could be given new releases. Katzenberg told the website ComingSoon.net that he now has the technical resources to begin the conversion process. Previous attempts to turn 2-D movies into 3-D have produced mixed results and reactions -- mostly negative -- but Katzenberg remarked in the interview that Lucas "isn't going to put a product out, I think, that isn't anything other than first rate."
That last bit kills me. Yeah, Greedo shooting first was definitely "first rate."
George Lucas will not quit re-releasing and messing with these movies until we all hate them.
Episode I-III actually made me like the old Star Wars movies less, now let's see if he can make me despise them.
I'm betting he'll do alright.
Forbidden Dimension are a Calgary band that have been around since 1988.
Actually, it's mainly one guy, Jackson Phibes, AKA Tom Bagley, the guy who's drawn album covers for Chixdiggit, Huevos Rancheros and tons more.
I'd heard about these guys a lot, back in the days before everyone had the internet, and you had to actually have an album (or know someone who had it) to hear it, but never actually heard them until recently.
I was in Red Cat records several months ago when I saw a copy of their newest album "A Cool Sound Outta Hell", and even though I hadn't ever heard them, I still felt compelled to buy it. I just figured I should, but I didn't.
Then, a few weeks later I stumbled onto their MySpace page and discovered that they're awesome!
Unfortunately, by that time every copy in town had been sold, and a local record store clerk informed me that their new label is having trouble finding a vinyl distributor.
Crap!
Anyway, if you like horror movies, surf rock, punk, metal or just about anything cool, you will enjoy these guys.
Listen to new songs at the MySpace page here.
Check out Tom Bagley's art here.

Download out of print albums here.
These two are interesting because they both came out in the same year.
Which one was written first? Was there some sort of weird telepathy thing going on?
Anyway, they're not exactly the same, but I figured they were close enough to warrant a post. So here they are, Link Wray with "You hurt me so" and the Beatles with "You've got to hide your love away" both from 1965.
I think this is going to be a regular feature here.
Whenever I hear two songs that sound alike, I always wonder if the later artist did it on purpose and hoped no one would notice, or if it was subliminal, or even a coincidence.
I guess in most cases we'll never know.
Anyway, here's the Ventures with "the Bat" (1963) and Huevos Rancheros with "Night of the Iguana" (1996)
Wow, I found this site by mistake when I was looking for rabbit album covers and it is awesome!
A lot of these are very well done and show some real creativity.
Check out the site here.
This one's my favorite, but they're all pretty good.
